This vintage W and A.K. Johnston Terrestrial Globe can spin on two axis allowing it to be tilted “North / South” as well as spin around. The globe is Paper Mache and is in fair condition. The paper markers on the wooden stand however show age, peeling and cracking around the diameter (Shown in photographs). The globe itself has a indent going across part of the lower hemisphere of the globe and some of the paper has cracked away (shown in photographs). The north pole where the globe connects has a plate that can be moved to determine the time of day in different places (shown in photographs). There is a small mark in the paper in Africa and it is shown in the photographs. At the South pole the paper has split a little bit around Antarctica (show in photographs). The globe is attached to the base by a bronze meridian ring and stands on three wooden feet. The feet have wheels on it so it can be moved around easily. The diameter of the globe is 18 inches. Around the diameter of the globe on the wood of the stand you are able to read the zodiac signs, time of day, and months. The globe stands 34 inches to this wooden ledge and stands a full 45 inches tall to the top of the globe. The full diameter of the piece (globe and stand) is 25 inches. We believe the base to be made of a blonde mahogany. The casters are bronze. The lower hemisphere is a bit darkened and stained.
