1891 commemorative Grand Army of the Republic silver medal commemorating the 17th annual encampment Department of Iowa. Obverse side depicts a soldier standing in a field with the U.S. flag, with the lettering “17th Annual Encampment, Dept. of Iowa G.A.R.”. Reverse side depicts a railroad map with Dubuque at the center. Medal weighs 12.8 grams and measures about 35mm wide in diameter. We are not professional graders, but we judge this medal to be Good condition. Medal is deeply toned and worn, making the railroad design on the reverse side less detailed.
