Description

Taxco, Mexico vintage sterling silver hand-crafted belt, stamped with the Eagle mark that was used through the 1960s to early 1970s. This beautiful belt has 21 curved panels with a pierced design and scalloped outer edges.

Each panel has an engraved pattern on it, with a raised dome or hemisphere in the center. The panels of the belt are 1-3/8″ wide and 1-1/2″ long. The current length is 29.5″ long. We have two additional stations or panels that can be used to increase the length of the belt by about 3″. One of the panels is loose on one hinge; the belt is still wearable, and this can be tightened. Most of the domes in the center of the stations are a bit flattened. This doesn’t take away from the elegant look of the belt, it does show that the belt has been loved for many years.

The belt is marked with eagle number 3, and stamped “Sterling Mexico”. The number “38” is hand inscribed on the back of one panel. This eagle number is associated with many different artists, so we were unable to identify a specific artist.
