Description
Rare, intricately engraved Italian Rococo style brooch pendant circa mid-Victorian period with a tube hinge and C-clasp. This piece has so much personality, you can’t help but smile when you look at it.
The brooch has movement; the bottom half is hinged and small gold balls dangle from the top half. The top and bottom are decorated with genuine red coral hand carved roses. The brooch is 43 mm tall by 34 mm wide (about 1-11/16′ x 1-5/15″) . The coral roses measure apx. 5 mm wide at the bottom and 8 mm wide at the top.
The back has a C-clasp to wear as a pin or brooch. There is an S shaped piece in back that will allow for a chain. The top of the S is not soldered to the back of the pin. For a fine chain, it might be advised to have a jeweler solder the back of the S to the piece.
This brooch is not marked. It acid tests between 14k and 18k; we estimate 16k yellow gold.
Weighs 7.4 grams.
The brooch/pendant is in excellent estate condition. A one-of-a-kind piece!
